CHIROPRACTIC FOR YOUR HORSE

CHIROPRACTIC FOR YOUR HORSE by Dr. Beverly Gordon Often people have asked me, “Do you think Chiropractic will help my horse?” The answer is, “it depends on what you are trying to achieve with your horse”. We hear about horses receiving Chiropractic care for specific problems, most commonly with their back, but we also hear of horses that have regular Chiropractic adjustments to keep them performing well. So, when should you consider Chiropractic care for your horse? To better understand Chiropr… Continue

Can there be Equine Dentistry Without Drama? Geoff Tucker says YES!

By Larissa Cox Geoff Tucker is a different kind of Equine Dentist. He has floated over 40,000 horse’s teeth using only hand tools and rarely uses sedatives. He uses good horsemanship and principles of respect to have the horse allow him to run his hands inside their mouths to feel each and every tooth. It is equine dentistry without powertools, equine dentistry without sedating horses, indeed, it is Equine Dentistry Without Drama™. Why do you call your practice “Equine Dentistry Without Drama™… Continue

Zip-locked pennies to keep flies away?

We don't know for sure if it works, but here's a neat idea -- and it only cost 'pennies' to try it out! :) The following was an email received by a ThinLine employee.... We went with some out of town friends to Sweety Pies on Sunday for breakfast, and we sat in the enclosed patio section beside the house. We happened to notice a couple of zip lock baggies pinned to a post and a wall. The bags were half filled with water, each contained 4 pennies, and they were zipped shut.. Naturally w… Continue

Around the Farm - Being Prepared for 4th of July

The time for vacations, lakes, beaches, BBQs, bikinis, and FIREWORKS is upon us. As horse owners, this can be a stressful time of year of keeping horses cool (see previous post), and pest free (see previous post). Around the Farm - Homemade Fly Spray Recipes

It's summer time, and that means the arrival of nasty, annoying pests. It seems nothing will completely stop them, but it always makes us feel better to do something. Rather then load your horses skin up with chemicals that may or may not make a difference, coat them with homemade spays that are healthier and easier on the wallet (in most cases). Remember to always consult your veterinarian and use fly sprays at your own risk. Here are a couple that we like: 6 caps full of Skin so Soft… Continue

Horse/Rider Chiropractic – Balancing the Equestrian Athlete

Every successful rider knows that it takes balance to achieve the ultimate ride. Regardless of discipline, a top competitive horse must be balanced across its top line, equally strong on both leads, fluid and free in its movements. The rider must maintain a centered balance, aiding the horse through its motions without inhibiting any. So who is the equestrian athlete? Is it the horse—who provides strength, speed, agility, and endurance? Or the rider—who coaches each stride with proper timing, te… Continue
